Description
There are tens or hundreds of thousands of pictures of the volcanic crater Kilauea Iki, mostly taken from the overlook. Kilauea Iki erupted in 1959 and I went to it and watched it many times. Kilauea Iki's floor is underlain by many cavities -- places where the molten lava drained away, leaving spaces. Some are large and some, like this one, are small. I think the entrances are quite striking. Unless the sun's directly overhead, little or no light enters them, which gives them a mysterious quality.
